This bill establishes a statutory fine of $50 for second and subsequent violations of the prohibition on operating a motor vehicle while using a wireless communications device. This fine would be in addition to the fine specified in the Judicial Council’s uniform fine schedule for these violations, which is currently set at $50.
The bill is effective August 1, 2015, and applies to violations committed on or after that date.
