S.F. No. 656 allows St. Louis County to merge parcel identification numbers (PIN) for buildings and the land those buildings are on. This bill also allows the county to cancel tax forfeitures on these properties.
Section 1, subdivision 1 provides definitions.
Subdivision 2 allows St. Louis County to take the following actions for parcels of property that have separate PINs for the building and for the land and that have been forfeited because of unpaid taxes, assessments, or other fees: 1) cancel the forfeiture and not reinstate the unpaid taxes, assessments, and other fees; and 2) merge the two PINs so that one PIN includes both the land and the building on that land.
Subdivision 3 states that if a forfeiture is canceled, the affected building is not subject to taxation from the date of the forfeiture through the date of the cancellation. This act is effective the day following final enactment.
