Section 1 allows the Department of Public Safety to issue a nondomiciled commercial driver’s license or nondomiciled commercial learner’s permit to a person who is domiciled in a foreign jurisdiction and otherwise meets state and federal requirements for obtaining a commercial driver’s license or learner’s permit.  This section also specifies that all other references to commercial driver’s licenses or permits in the chapter on driver’s licenses includes those issued as nondomiciled.

Section 2 modifies the section of statute regarding the contents of the application for driver’s licenses and learner’s permits, specifying that a Social Security number is not required if the application is for a nondomiciled commercial driver’s license or nondomiciled commercial learner’s permit.

Section 3 states that a nondomiciled commercial driver’s license or learner’s permit must prominently contain the words “nondomiciled commercial driver’s license” or “nondomiciled commercial learner’s permit,” as appropriate, in accordance with federal law.

EFFECTIVE DATE. This bill is effective on the day following final enactment.
