S.F. No. 548 - Modifying the Homeless Youth Act

Author: Senator D. Scott Dibble

Prepared By: Joan White, Senate Counsel (651/296-3814)

Date: February 27, 2015

Section 1 (256K.45, Subd. 1a) amends the Homeless Youth Act by modifying the definition of the terms “homeless youth” and "youth at risk of homelessness" by changing eligibility from youth 21 years of age or younger, to youth 24 years of age or younger.  This is consistent with the federal Runaway and Homeless Youth Act.

Section 2 appropriates $2,000,000 per year for purposes of the Homeless Youth Act.
