S.F. No. 262 - Increasing the Number of Voters an Individual may Assist

Author: Senator Foung Hawj

Prepared By: Alexis C. Stangl, Senate Counsel (651/296-4397)

Date: February 4, 2015

S.F. No. 262 increases the number of voters an individual may assist in marking a ballot because of the voter's inability to read English or physical inability to mark a ballot. Under current law, an individual may assist up to three voters in marking a ballot at any election. The bill would increase this to assisting up to 15 voters at any election. This limit does not apply to the number of voters election judges may assist in marking ballots.
