Section 1 [Law Enforcement Task Force on Animal Cruelty] establishes a 20-member task force, with specified member representation. The task force is required to comprehensively review the enforcement of animal anticruelty laws and practices and make recommendations for improvements.  This section specifies minimum duties.  This section provides certain specifics to make the task force operational: due date of July 15, 2014, for appointments; first meeting by August 1, 2014; election of cochairs; staff support provided by the Commissioner of Public Safety; permission to solicit resources and outside funding; permits the commissioner to award grants to further the purpose of the task force, with restrictions; provides reiumbursement of member expenses, but no compensation; requires a report to the Legislature by February 15, 2015; and sunsets the task force after delivering the report.
