S.F. No. 1895 - Assumed Names Filing Requirements

Author: Senator Ron Latz

Prepared By: Kathleen Pontius, Senate Counsel (651/296-4394)

Date: February 29, 2012

This bill amends the law requiring a person who is doing business in this state under a name that is not the whole true name to file a certificate of assumed name with the Office of the Secretary of State.  The filing requirement would not apply to a person conducting business under a name that is identical to the true name, but does not include the designation required under various laws applicable to business entities (such as "Incorporated," "Inc.," etc. for business corporations).
