This bill authorizes two or more existing municipal power agencies to collectively form a municipal power agency.

Section 1, subdivision 2 (Agency Agreement) modifies the definition of "agency agreement" to include an agreement made between or among two or more existing municipal power agencies establishing a municipal power agency. Current law authorizes two or more cities to establish a municipal power agency.

Section 2, subdivision 7 (Governing Body) provides that with respect to an existing municipal power agency, "governing body" means the agency's board of directors.

Section 3, subdivision 8 (Municipal Power Agency) modifies the definition of "municipal power agency" to include a separate political subdivision and municipal corporation created by agreement between or among two or more existing municipal power agencies to exercise specified powers relating to electric generation or transmission facilities.

Sections 4 through 10 make conforming changes.
