S.F. No. 41 - Jackson County
Author: Senator Jim Vickerman
Prepared by: Daniel P. McGowan, Senate Counsel (651/296-4397)
Date: January 26, 2009

The proposed bill would authorize Jackson County to make the office of county auditor- treasurer appointive if the county board approves the measure by a 4/5 vote or if a petition of ten percent of the registered voters is filed and approved by the voters at a regular or special election. This bill is virtually identical to other bills passed for twelve other counties in recent years and was passed by this committee on March, 2008, passed by the full Senate on April 4, 2008, by a 51-15 vote, but did not receive favorable action in the House.
