S.F. No. 2555 - Emergency or Disaster Volunteers (author's amendment)
Author: Senator David H. Senjem
Prepared by: Kathleen Pontius, Senate Counsel (651/296-4394)
Date: March 1, 2010

Section 1 adds a definition of "entity" in the emergency management law, which would include every type of person but an individual.

Section 2 adds new protections for entities who provide volunteer services in connection with an emergency or disaster. An entity would not be liable for civil damages or administrative sanctions as a result of good-faith acts or omissions in rendering emergency care, advice, or assistance, unless the entity acted in a willful and wanton or reckless manner.

Immediate effective dates are included.
