S.F. No. 2431 - Requiring Single License Plate
Author: Senator David J. Tomassoni
Prepared by: Krista Boyd, Fiscal Analyst (651/296-7681)

Bonnie Berezovsky, Senate Counsel (651/296-9191)

Date: March 4, 2010

This bill modifies motor vehicle license plate display requirements. Current law requires one plate to be displayed on the front and one on the rear of the vehicle; this legislation makes the front plate optional at the discretion of the owner. Clarifying technical changes are made in other sections of statute related to payment of fees for motor vehicle plates.
