S.F. No. 2267 - Full-Time Firefighter Definition Clarification
Author: Senator Ann H. Rest
Prepared by: Chris Turner, Senate Research (651/296-4350)
Date: February 26, 2010

The bill clarifies the definition of "full-time firefighter" for the purposes of firefighter certification. Under current law, a full-time firefighter means a person who is employed and charged with the prevention or suppression of fires on a full-time, salaried basis. The bill states that full-time firefighters must be directly engaged, or in charge of a company that is directly engaged, in the hazards of firefighting.

The bill is effective the day following final enactment.
