|Author:||Senator Ann H. Rest|
|Prepared by:||Chris Turner, Senate Research (651/296-4350)|
|Date:||February 26, 2010|
The bill clarifies the definition of "full-time firefighter" for the purposes of firefighter
certification. Under current law, a full-time firefighter means a person who is employed and charged
with the prevention or suppression of fires on a full-time, salaried basis. The bill states that full-time
firefighters must be directly engaged, or in charge of a company that is directly engaged, in the
hazards of firefighting.
The bill is effective the day following final enactment.
