Section 1 imposes a $1.75 surcharge on each motor vehicle registration renewal, with proceeds of the surcharge deposited in a new driver and vehicle services technology account.

Section 2 increases the following fees by $1.75 in each case, so that the fee amounts are:

Issuance of original certificate of title: $8.00

Issuance of new certificate of title after transfer: $7.25

Issuance of duplicate certificate of title: $9.00

In each case, the $1.75 increase is deposited in the driver and vehicle services technology account.

Section 3 imposes a $1.75 surcharge on each fee collected for driver's licenses, permits, and identification cards.

Section 4 establishes a driver and vehicle services technology account in the special revenue fund, to be used for a driver and vehicle services information system.

Section 5 gives effect to this act on July 1, 2008.
