S.F. No. 46 requires a hospital to make available for viewing by parents of newborns a video presentation on the dangers associated with shaking infants and young children. This bill also requires the hospital to request, whenever possible, the signatures of the parents indicating that they have viewed the video or declined to view the video. The signature forms shall be submitted to the Commissioner of Health annually.
The hospital is also required to use a video obtained from the Commissioner of Health or a video approved by the same, and the commissioner must provide the video to hospitals at cost. The commissioner shall also review other video presentations for possible approval upon the request of a hospital.
