S.F. No. 177 - Delete-Everything Amendment Relating to the Metropolitan Airports Commission
Author: Senator Satveer Chaudhary
Prepared by: Daniel P. McGowan, Senate Counsel (651/296-4397)
Date: February 11, 2003

The proposed delete-everything amendment would restrict the authority of the Metropolitan Airports Commission to limit the age of taxicabs at the airport to less than six years if the vehicle is subject to an annual safety inspection as provided by ordinance. The amendment would also allow a taxicab owner to pay the annual taxicab permit fee in quarterly installments and authorize a deceased permit holder's personal representative to transfer the permit to a member of the permit holder's immediate family. The Airports Commission would not be allowed to increase the annual taxicab permit fee as a result of the provisions of this legislation.
